Every year, about 100,000 to 200,000 animals are killed in animal testing for cosmetics. These tests are inhuman, and often include chemicals being put in eyes, on shaved skin, and the forced consumption of lethal chemicals. Blindness, internal malfunctions, and death are often the result. Pain relief is not an option, so these innocent animals are forced to suffer. Even if the animal manages to survive with minimal injuries, it will be killed once the test is complete. Whats more, many of these tests do not actually help humans, because the chemicals react differently with animals, than with humans.

If you want to make sure that animals are not suffering for your cosmetics, here is a list of just some cruelty free make-up brands (there are many more):

  • Astonish
  • Arctic Fox
  • Cargo
  • Elf
  • Habit
  • LA Girl

This related to engineering because it has taken a lot of science and  inventions to come up with the tests to conduct on these animals, and it has also taken that to invent the many, viable alternatives to it.
