DTing relates to engineering because engineering is about trying and failing multiple times, but eventually getting it right. DTing most likely was attempted multiple times before becoming as efficient as it is now. For example it must have taken a lot of attempts to get the wristband as sensitive as it is today, to make sure every movement is counted.
