How Close Are We To Replacing Human Soldiers With Robots?
We’ve seen giant mechas and suits used for military purposes in video games and movies, but how close are we for these works of fiction to become reality? A top British intelligence claims that the U.S will have more manned drones and robots on the battlefield than real people by 2025. Russian military strategists also believe that their FEDOR Fighter will revolutionize the art of war in the future.
“I see a greater robotization, in fact, future warfare will involve operators and machines, not soldiers shooting at each other on the battlefield,” Lieutenant-General Andrey Grigoriev, head of the Advanced Research Foundation (ARF) said last year.
“The soldier would gradually turn into an operator and be removed from the battlefield.”
Engineers designed the brains and parts of these robots to enable them to potentially fight in future wars.
