Chinese scientist He Jiankui has recently rearranged a baby’s genetics to make the two twins immune to HIV. He chose HIV ( a disease that leads to AIDS) because China’s HIV rate has rose 14% in the second half of this year. This sounds like a deed with good intent, but many other researchers in his field are outraged because they don’t think that human genetics should be tampered with.

This relates to engineering because CRISPR (a genetic editing tool) is a cool piece of tech. This is also considered BioMedical Engineering.
