NASA has created and drone powered by sunlight through solar panels. This is called the Helios and it was the first drone to fly more than 96,000 feet for more than 40 minutes during a test flight. The goals for this drone is for it to fly non-stop for 24 hours and to fly 100,000 feet. Currently the Helios is being upgraded with more advanced technology like, new sensors, lighter solar panels, and even more. The Helios is being worked on under NASA’S ERAST project.

This drone is related to engineering because it uses electrical and mechanical engineers and technologies to create it. Engineering plays a big role in this project because that’s how it made and created.
