Curling is a sport that originated in Scotland and is now an Olympic sport. Curling made its Olympic debut in 1924. Curling was thought to have been created in about 1511. The earliest curling stones were said to be found in Perth and Sterling on the east coast where cold weather is very common. Curling is very reflective of Scottish culture as a friendly game often played with friends and family as a fun activity. Although the Scottish created the sport the Swedish soon became big fans. Sweden has since claimed it as one of the countries favorite sports. And even now today you can still see the Scottish flair in curling.
This relates to engineering because the Scottish engineered a new game to play with friends, family. and guests. It wasn’t hard to find ice, with Scotland’s many Loch’s and cold weather the loch’s froze over and the Scott’s could play.
