The Pantheon was completed in 125 CE, it was dedicated to Marcus Agrippa. It stands on a 1.3 meter tall base, originally extending 7 meters in front of the colonnade. The dome of the building is made of concrete, and used to be covered in sheets of bronze, before being removed in 663 CE. The porch’s dimensions are 33.1 x 13.6 meters, with eight Corinthian columns 11.8 meters high. The interior of the porch, is about 34×20 meters. The building was originally faced with white marble stucco. In the top of the Pantheon, there is a hole to the sky (oculus) in the dome measuring 8.8 meters in diameter.

This relates to engineering, because the Pantheon is an example of civil engineering. It is amazing that over a millennia has passed since the Pantheon was built, especially with the technology at the time being very primitive compared to current technology well over a thousand years later. The Pantheon is a very impressive sight, and is unique because it was one of the first examples of classical architecture where the interior was created to be more visually appealing than the outside.
