Scientist at Salk institute implanted mice with tiny human brains. The mice acted normal but they were supplying enough blood and nutrients for a human.
They created these small brains to study schizophrenia. They could also use this to study other problems that happen or develop in a human brain. Scientist hope this helps them figure out how humans brains develop and when problems occur. Previously scientist could only get the brains to last up to five weeks before they couldn’t supply enough oxygen now the brains are lasting up to 233 days with the same maturation of a baby.
This could lead to many scientific advancements in the future and cure diseases.
This works because the scientist grew the brains in a dish and added a little tissue from the mice.
This relates to engineering because they tested this on mice and will develop new techniques and solve problems.
