Over a half a century ago, 2,000 men crossed the ocean blue and 7 died. They were workers and crossed 17 miles of water with concrete, steel, and rock. The other 1,993 men survived to be a part of one of the seven engineering wonders at the time. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge focused on connecting Virginia Beach to a peninsula. At the time it was called one of the seven engineering wonders of the world.
This relates to engineering because it used massive amounts of planning, resources, and construction. It contained many problems that engineers solved intelligently. This bridge and tunnel is worthy of its title. Thankfully, it has stood a minor test of time and is still around. It is truly just a engineering wonder that shocked the world at the time where many thought it was an impossible deed.
