Have you ever seen a car that flies in the skies? You probably haven’t. So that’s why I’m explaining the history of flying cars and also one of the world’s first flying electric car, the Xpeng X2.
History Of Flying Cars
It all started from 1917, when an aircraft designer, Glenn Curtiss built his Curtiss Autoplane. He used propellors on front and back for flight, struts, and wheels for driving. Despite these supports for flight, all it can do best is do a simple jump, not properly flying at full height.
After the 20th century, the Parajet Skycar was made. It was droven through London to Timbuktu in January 15, 2009. How it works is that it falls off from a specific height and launches a parachute to fly around. However, this doesn’t work as its not technically using power to fly around.
Finally, the modern flying car, the Xpeng X2 makes history as it’s one of the world’s first flying electric car that actually works. The Xpeng X2 max speed is 80 miles per hour in air and can fly for 35 minutes straight. It’s mainly for sightseeing and easier access to destinations in case there’s a traffic. Of course, the price isn’t cheap as the price might be up to $200,000.
