Our earth is steadily changing due to raising climate change. Airplane emissions are a big problem for our world because they release a lot of pollution, and since flights are expected to triple by 2050 there will be more emission released over time. In order to prevent this, a team of scientists at MIT (the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) have been working to redesign airplanes along with the help of the government and industry collaborators. They called it the “Double Bubble” D8. This new design could save up to 66 percent in fuel! It is likely to be active and fly by 2035.

This relates to engineering because engineers have to build and redesign airplane models to make sure it doesn’t release a lot of emission.
