How Nuclear Power Can Reach Climate Goals

Some struggles that have striked the nuclear power industry are radioactive waste, high financial cost, and regulatory requirements. As well as  heavy competition with renewable energy, these challenges have stopped the nuclear power industry  from taking over the kind of power people use. But Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is convinced that his Natrium nuclear power plant facility in Wyoming, which is planned to set to launch 2030, will be a win for the economy, America’s energy independence, and the fight against climate change.

The facility is being developed by TerraPower, a nuclear energy company that Gates launched in 2008. The Natrium facility is being developed in a public-private partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP).  The project will feature a 345 MW sodium-cooled fast reactor, instead of traditional water-based one, with a molten salt-based energy storage system.

Nuclear energy is much cleaner than other sources. In order to help end climate change researchers are trying to find a more efficient way of nuclear energy. Nuclear energy could be the future of our energy, it is clean and there are minor downfalls to it. The waste can be managed and high financial prices can still be payed. Nuclear energy will be very important for our future Earth.
