Worlds Largest Walking Robot

Worlds Largest Walking Robot

Imagine a 51 foot long, fire breathing dragon stomping towards you. That fantasy is reality at Drachenstich theme park in Germany. This marvel of engineering was built to replace a (much lamer) aging dragon, and boasts such stats as:

  •  5.50 m x 3.80 m x 4.50 m dimesions
  • Powered by a 2.0-liter Diesel engine with about 140 horsepower
  • Wings that span 12 meters
  • Filled with 80 liters of stage blood
  • Nine separate controllers
  • 238 separate sensors for determining the environment
  • It fully walks with all four legs, each of which has 7 degrees of freedom

The way this story relates to engineering obvious. The engineers behind it clearly followed the engineering process when designing this engineering marvel. This is the kind of things that makes me want to be an engineer.
