A catapult is a mechanism used to launch objects from large distances. The pumpkin catapults use springs and wood to give enough force to pull the arm back to a 90-degree angle. Once the arm is all the way down the arm will then launch up with enough force to launch the object which is a pumpkin.
The catapult is part of engineering because you must plan draw or design then you have to build your product.
